This year (2018) I decided to try something attractive and interesting, so I decided to grow a few Red Zebra tomatos.
Small plants seemed to be very weak after germination, I was sure they will not survive. However, they recovered and at the time of moving to the garden, there was no difference comparing with other tomato sorts - I was very happy. Plants were very lively, nice numbers of flowers, later small green fruits. They had very nice pattern and I was looking forward to have them ripe.
Unfortunately, whole impression from the sort was much worse later. Each fruit, when the color turned slightly to red, started to decay from the bottom. At the end, nine of ten fruits were rotten. Those few, which were fine, tasted quite poorly, with thick skin.
This was the only sort, which I ripped out from the garden at the beginning of September and all Red Zebra plants went to compost. It was clear - there will be no use of them and they just shade rest of my tomatoes, which still bring some fruits.
My result: Red Zebra tomato - never more. Fruits molder, taste under average, thick skin.
